Emory University's School of Medicine: Division of Animal Resources (DAR) is seeking a Veterinary Technician II to join their Managed Breeding Services (MBS) team!
The Vet Tech II will, under direct supervision, assist veterinarians and researchers to fulfill responsibilities, as follows.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provide pairing, weaning, genotyping, maintenance, and transport of colony-managed animals.
Perform animal procedures such as biopsies, sample collection, and treatment administration to colony animals.
Participate in the weekend and holiday on-call rotation schedule with DAR treatment/triage veterinary staff.
Conduct animal care/husbandry for breeding mice.
Database entry for colony-managed animals and other duties as needed.
Coursework, training, or strong interest in genetics is highly recommended.
Employees in this classification may be required to work with, take special precautions against and/or be immunized against hazardous agents.
Under general supervision, assists the veterinarians and researchers in surgery and radiology, animal care, treatments, and diagnostic and preventative procedures.
Maintain medical records and inventory.
Provide non-surgical technical assistance to researchers as directed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A high school diploma or equivalent and three years of experience as a veterinary technician,
OR
A high school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience as an animal care technician
OR
Graduation from a two year veterinary technician program and one year of veterinary technician experience.
NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
