Pleasant Valley Pet Clinic is a place that offers new grads the opportunity to work alongside more seasoned doctors. We will provide you with an annual CE of your choosing.
Our support staff is hard to come by and is our greatest asset. Our management and staff as a whole truly care about your needs as an associate veterinarian. More importantly we care about providing you with a warm welcome into the Pleasant Valley Pet Clinic family. We strive for workplace happiness where the positivity starts from the top.
Our hospital is full of culture, values, and medical care you can feel proud to be a part of. It is a place that provides minimal limitations on how you choose to practice medicine, and strives to allow you to do and be your very best.
As a growing practice our utmost priority is to provide excellent medical care to our patients. Therefore, the need for proper support staff per DVM and up to date diagnostic equipment is essential. We are constantly striving to be better today than yesterday.
Compensation is a generous daily rate. We value our associates and the medicine they have to offer. Therefore, we prefer to not make our doctors meet a percentage for a decent income. Instead of worrying about numbers you can focus on the patients and their needs while earning the wage you deserve.
Our hospital contains up-to-date equipment:
Digital radiology (including dental)
TE5 Mindray ultrasound
Dentalaire
Abaxis in hospital lab suite; Vs2 chemistry, Hematology, PT/PTT and blood gases
And much more
Our hospital also runs off an up-to-date paperlight practice management software:
EzyVet software -- Electronic medical records, integrated diagnostics from outside lab (IDexx Laboratories), built in communication system, etc.
Smartflow sheet -- Electronic whiteboard, treatment sheets, anesthetic sheets, etc.
24 hour emergency medical care is in the near future of our practice. We will be serving patients from veterinary hospitals in the surrounding area for overnight and after hour emergency care. These patients will be encouraged to seek continued care with regular GP

About Pleasant Valley Pet Clinic
About Us
Pleasant Valley Pet Clinic was established in 1991 by Dr. Bob Prestwich and Dr. Rick Exstrom, who each owned their own veterinary hospitals in Placerville. Dr. Prestwich and Dr. Exstrom saw a need for veterinary care in South County and the surrounding areas and developed Pleasant Valley Pet Clinic as a satellite clinic, independent of their own businesses. We started with one doctor and two staff members. Dr. Karen Jackett joined the practice 6 months after the grand opening, and the practice quickly began to grow. In 2004, Dr. Jackett purchased Pleasant Valley Pet Clinic and began to expand. Since 2004, Dr. Jackett has upgraded the existing diagnostic equipment and added new equipment, expanding our capabilities to add services she felt would benefit our patients. In order to accommodate our growing practice, Dr. Jackett knew we would have to relocate into a larger space. She found the perfect location in the mostly undeveloped property located across the street from the shopping center in Pleasant valley where we were already established. Building a new veterinary hospital from the ground up was not without its challenges, but in November 2013 we moved into our band ne...w facility. We pride ourselves on our modern and innovative approach to veterinary medicine, while staying true to exceptional patient care and personal client relations. We are proud to be such an integral part of the Pleasant Valley Community, and look forward to serving the community for many years to come.
Our Vision:
We strive to provide your pet with the same comprehensive health care that we would want for our own pets. We promise to provide you, the owner, with all options known to us, both most effective and least invasive, giving you the information necessary to make the best decision for your pet. We will consistently deliver the highest quality pet care possible and administer it with a caring touch. We will help your pet maintain optimal health through each stage of life. Because pets are members of the family, we hope to become part of your extended family through compassionate care and trusting relationships.
Our Mission:
As a community focused, family practice hospital, our goal is to provide high quality preventive, medical and surgical services in a friendly, caring, and professional environment. We strive to earn client loyalty and satisfaction, and maximize our patient’s well being. As a healthcare team, it is our mission to provide a positive experience in all aspects of veterinary medicine for clients, patients, staff and community.
