The Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island Referral & Emergency Hospital is recruiting additional internship trained (preferred, but not required) emergency clinicians. We are seeking a candidate with positive energy, experience and eagerness to practice high quality medicine within a 3-day schedule and 37 hour work week. The ideal candidate will also possess the leadership qualities necessary to help educate our enthusiastic interns and our large group of well-educated and highly experienced Licensed Technicians and other paraprofessionals.

We currently have 13 full time emergency clinicians and all of our emergency shifts have ample overlap with both the oncoming and exiting clinicians. Additionally, we have criticalist consults available 24 hours 7 days a week! Our ER clinicians normally perform basic laceration repairs or the equivalent. Otherwise, all other surgeries are performed by one of our surgeons. We have a complete on call schedule consisting of a surgeon, resident/intern, LVT, and assistant. So, our emergency clinicians never have to divide their attention between the ER and emergency surgeries. Additionally, all our ER shifts have 5 licensed technicians and 5 assistants with overlap on both ends of all shifts.
Our hospital offers 24/7 emergency and critical care and provides specialty services consisting of Surgery, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Dermatology, Dentistry, Ophthalmology, Avian & Exotics, Neurology, Cardiology and Physical Rehabilitation. The hospital is equipped with state of the art monitoring equipment including but not limited to; wireless telemetry and capnography. Additionally, we have a full complement of diagnostic modalities which includes; multiple In-house laboratories, TEG, two digital radiography suites, ICU dedicated ultrasound, GE 64 slice high speed CT, fluoroscopy, full interventional radiology suite & cath lab, GE 1.5 tesla MRI, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, Minimally Invasive surgery and arthroscopy.
