Animal Friends is hiring Certified and non-certified Veterinary Technicians for the Howard Ash Animal Wellness Center.
Our mission is to inspire a community where the animal-human bond is celebrated and nurtured by breaking down barriers and offering safety nets for limited-income pet owners. As a member of the Clinic and Community Services team, you will help families keep their pets healthy by ensuring compassionate and quality veterinary care.
Clinic and Community Services Veterinary Technicians are based out of the Howard Ash Animal Wellness Center. Founded in 2017, this state-of -the-art facility offers a progressive High Quality High Volume Spay/Neuter (HQHVSN) program, Trap Neuter Vaccine Return (TNVR) services, general practical, dentistry, wellness appointments and mobile surgical services.
No two days are alike! Veterinary Technicians in our clinic help perform a wide variety of procedures, see many different patients and interacts with multiple owners each day.

Essential Functions:
Provide compassionate care to patients.
Able and willing to work in a busy and fast-paced environment.
General supervision of veterinary assistants.
Assist veterinarians during appointments in general practice, dentistry, surgery and vaccine clinics, while adhering to the clinic’s safety and wellness protocols.
Assist veterinarian in surgical procedures using proper aseptic technique.
Assist veterinarian in medical procedures using proper restraint.
Cross-train with surgery staff with occasional shift rotation between our surgery department and general practice.
Review vaccination records and prepare vaccines according to our vaccine protocol.
Maintain and use medical equipment and other surgical instruments.
Administer treatments and injections following the instructions of a doctor or a treatment form.
Maintain pharmacy records, controlled drug, and anesthesia logs.
Assist with diagnostic imaging by utilizing proper technique and positioning.
Take vital signs of animals including temperature, pulse, and respiration.
Perform routine laboratory procedures and analyses in hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, and serology.

Must possess a love of animals, patience when handling pets and sincere interest in the work, programs and mission of Animal Friends, Inc.
Experience in a Veterinary Hospital, General Practice or ER, Shelter Medicine, High Quality High Volume Spay/Neuter (HQHVSN) or Trap Neuter Vaccine Return (TNVR) programs preferred.
Reliable transportation, regular onsite attendance and punctuality is required for this role and vital to organizational operations.
Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant/sanitation chemicals, animal dander, and excretions.
Must be able to work special events including, but not limited to, annual Black Tie & Tails gala and occasional Vaccine Clinics.
Must be able to push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
